Prior to 2015 I had been a volunteer supporting adults with learning difficulties. During this time, it was my privilege to meet Cicely Cooper (Chairperson of Mencap Milton Keynes). Cicely and her husband Trevor had created so many opportunities, made such a difference and changed the lives of so many people less fortunate than themselves. Their steadfast and resolute intention to treat all people with the utmost respect has made a lifelong impression on me. Cicely and Trevor’s compassion, understanding and fierce determination, is what encouraged, prepared and offered me succour as I prepared for my journey into Africa.
