Sister Elizabeth Newman, a member of the School Sisters of Notre Dame
(SSND), has been a dedicated force at Ghana's Orthopedic Training Center
(OTC) in Nsawam since 1975. With over 25 years of experience in education
and administration in Ghana, she currently serves as the Director of OTC,
overseeing daily operations, fundraising efforts, and strategic development.

Established in 1961 by the Divine Word Missionaries, the OTC provides
rehabilitation, physiotherapy, and orthopaedic appliances to individuals with
physical disabilities across Ghana and West Africa. Under Sister Elizabeth's leadership, the Center has expanded its services, including the establishment of
a prosthetics and orthotics training college in 2013.

In 2018, the OTC treated over 7,000 patients, addressing conditions such as
diabetes-related amputations, birth deformities, and injuries from road
accidents. Sister Elizabeth has been a vocal advocate for road safety,
particularly concerning the protection of children.
